Tips of programming 2716/2732 on Dual power willem programmer;
1. The 2716/2732 is made in old NMOS technology. It will consume very high DC current than CMOS chip. The 2716/2732 may need up to 200mA programming current. But CMOS 27C16/27C32 chip will only need about 20mA current. 2. Due to a higher current is needed to program a NMOS chip, so the pin need to be very clean. The higher contacting resistance only reduce the DC current. This will fail the programming. 3. There are different Vpp for the different chip. Please confirm your chip's programming voltage(Vpp) is correctly selected. The 2716's Vpp can be either 12.7V, 21V and 25V. Incorrect Vpp selecting also fails the programming. You can go http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/mcumall_FQA.asp for datasheet. 4. To assure the programmer will be able to supply enough DC current for NMOS chip(eg. 2716), always use the DC power adapter. The DC adapter can be a 8V or 12V DC gerneric DC adapter. 5. The 2716/2732 need to set the special chip jumper on dual power willem programmer. JP1 ,JP2 and DIP switch, please refer to software diagram when you selected this chip from the software. 6. Try to read a 2716/2732 see if the reading OK.

If you are using AC adapter, then do not plug the USB cable at same time. Just follow the software jumper setting indication, use ZIF socket. ICSP is for PIC Microprocessor chip programming only. |

I have a dual power willem and am using an adaptor that is rated at 12vdc 850ma. The chip is blank, and I can't get it to program. It says, "Error at 0x000000 Chip=0xFF buffer=0x78"
How do I change the Vpp? |

Nevermind, I got it to work. I just needed to change the vpp. I messed around with the various jumpers in test mode and used a multimeter to figure out which jumper configuration changed the vpp. |

Good. The Vpp is importand. Makesure you change it back to 12V for other not 25V Vpp chips. Otherwise your 12VVpp chip will be demaged. |
