Hi there, I picked up the Enhanced JDM programmer a short time ago and have been having trouble programming the PIC 18f4550 and 18f4553 (newly supported in WinPic800). Using WinPic800, WinPic, and the PICPgm programmer I am unable to detect the devices at all. I've tested the voltages as recommended in another thread here and they seem to check out all right. I've tried the modification to increase the compatibility but that also had no effect. I have been able to detect and program the 18f4620, 18f4585, and 18f2550. I've also ordered a couple of new 18f4550s but they behave the same way. I tried using the ICSP header with a separate board and had equally unsuccessful results. Have I overlooked anything?
To add to that: I've tried it with an external 12v supply with the same results. However, PICPgm does detect the hardware as a JDM device and WinPIC800 tests the hardware as OK. One odd note though, when I turn on PICPgm it'll detect the JDM hardware ok but when I lock a PIC into the zif socket the power LED will dim until it's barely visible. This only happens when PICPgm is active. Possibly unrelated but still odd.
