Can someone recommend the best way to read and program a EEPROM such as the ST M95040? This is the IC used to store the IMMO information on my Audi's ECU. I have several MICROCHIP programmers but to the best I've been able to figure out they will not program these small EEPROM's. Here's a link to the datasheet:

I'm guessing I'll need a programmer and a adapter. This chip uses SPI programming so I think I shouldn't really need anything fancy?

the cheaper the better

Most of universal programmers should support this chip.

Like GQ-4X programmer.

yeah I found that while searching the archives here. I would need a adapter to match the footprint of the chip for sure.

Is it safe to assume the GQ-4X comes with some sort of basic program that will let me read/write?

Yes. The GQ-4X comes with the software to let you read and write the chip.
