Can anybody tell me if the GQ-3X programmer supports software data protection on the atmel 29C040A chip?

Thanks

For the Atmel 29C040A chip:

The "Software Data Protection" is the integrated into the write procedure during the programming.

That means once the chip is been programmed, all data is in the "Software Data Protection" state. The programming procedure always send the "Software Data Protection" command (0xAA,0x55,0xA0) to the chip when writing the data.

After chip is been erased, the "Software Data Protection" state are disabled.

Just received the programmer but doesn't look like the software data protection works. It writes the chip, I can compare it all is fine. When I take the chip out, put it back in and re read the chip, the contents has changed. How do I enable the SDP feature? I tried the lock/unlock but the software says it's not supported.

Thanks

There's obviously something wrong with my programmer. I get write errors on three different devices: AM29F040B, AT29C040A and AM27C040
I tried this on many of my USB ports, powered hubs and AC adapter, nothing works. Please help!

Thanks
Nic
