MPLAB IDE version 1.50

use that program to so that you can burn your IC.

Will MPLAB IDE ver 8.5 I recently downloaded from Microchip work with Enhanced JDM serial port programmer? If so, what would I need to select in MPLAB?

No, The JDM uses its own software.
