I noticed the SST28SF040A 32-pin chip is not
listed in my "devices" listing in my GQ-4X programmer.
I love my programmer by the way!!!

Is there a "device" setting I can use that would work for this chip?
Thank you very much for any help you can give me on this!

Try to add devices line into devices.txt:

Name="SST28SF040A",ID="BF04",Class="AT29C040A",Category="FLASH",MFG="SST";

Please let me know if it works.

I was able to enter the device name
into the devices.txt as per instructions and it comes
up as an optional device and displayed in the dialog boxes.
However, when trying to erase, verify,or write to the chip...no go.
The programmer has no problems reading the chip -
but that's all it will perform.
Is it possible the Class of "AT29c0404A" is incorrect?
If I were to obtain a copy of this chip's specifications
and post it here - would you be able to send me a fix?

Can you get the chip ID?

Checked datasheet and found new software needed in order to support this chip.

If you want add this chip in, then you can send a testing chip to support@mcumall.com. You chip will be returned to you after the test.

Yes,
The chip ID is: BF04
I am not sure if it's "zero" four or the letter "O" four.
I will try to attach a screen shot of the programmer's dialog box.
Thanks for your help on this.
I will search for your address and mail out the chip to ya.>>>

ID is correct. We need a good chip to find out the problem.
