Hi I am trying to copy and burn an ATMEL Eprom # AT29C040A-90JC. I used the settings for AT29C040A and I can copy the eprom from a good one to my hard drive. When I try to burn a new eprom and read it all i see on the screen are lots of question marks (????????) and the eprom won't work in the device used. I use the adapter number: FWH/LPC+ Adapter . When I go to read I get a message: ID check failed. Please check device type, chip's orientation and pin contact. Some OEM chips may have compatible chip ID. Continue?

Any help would be appreciated.

The AT29C040A does not need adapter is your chip is DIP 32 chip.

If your chip is in PLCC32 package, then the PLCC32-DIP32 adapter is needed. NOT the FWH/LPC adapter.
