Help - this is frustrating!

Problem: Write Failed, Address-0x000000, Buffer 0x00, Device 0xFF

Hardware Profile

Macbook w/ WinXP SP2
GQ-4x v.1.30
USBProg 6.13, Driver 2.01
GQ-4x passes VCC & VPP tests

Device reads and passes blank check, but fails on write with the above error.
The device ID's as a toshiba but no detail beyond that.

I've upgraded to the latest s/w versions and tried;
restarting both XP and USBProg,an external power supply,
using the generic 27C256 profile and adjusting the write speed.

All to no avail.

I'm not sure if this matters but the GQ reports that the device passes blank check, verifies and fails on write WITHOUT an eprom installed, but with the correct device profile loaded.
