Hi,
I read on the original Willem site that the 29LV160 profile should be good for these with the TSOP48 adapter..
However I don't seem to get results with either 29LV160 profile (B or T) .. Blank checks fail erratically, for example and when burning, it will usually fail due to it thinking some bit is already changed on the chip, yet if I read it back immediately, it might be all FF's.
The programmer SW tells me to jumper 5V on the adapter, but this is a 3.3V part, I don't want to fry it. |

The True USB Willem programmer is able to generates the 3.3V voltage for the 3.3V devices. So the adapter has to tun off the 3.3V adjust circuit (put the jumper on 5V position).
But the all other parallel willem programmers only can generate the 5V from the programmer. So, it needs the adapter to adjust the voltage to 3.3V(put jumper on 3.3V voltage).
Just follow the software instruction to put the jumper on 5V position. Your chip is safe since the programmer only provides 3.3V to the chip.

Did you get correct ID? 1FC0
Can you erase the chip and pass the blank check?
Check the adapter jumper set to 29F position.
Check the adapter address line A19, and A20 are connected to the programmer.

Device ID FFFF. What can I do to fix this?
Can erase + blank check passes.
Jumper is in 29F position
Address wires are connected.
When verifying repeatedly, it fails on a different offset almost every time. Sometimes I get the same offset twice in a row, but then it changes again. |

What is your programmer hardware model? Did you used the external power?
Remove the external power and try.
The ID is not correct. ID is not correct, |

Just USB power from a powered hub. |

Is the hub giving enough power to flasher? Try without it?
Device ID should be 1FC2 for AT49BV163DT device. But this returned FFFF does not make sense.
Could the used flashing profile 29LV160 be the reason? It was suggested to be used with AT49BV162AT in original Willem forum, but is it working with this 163DT chip also:

If it is able to erase, then it should be able to read the ID. Not sure why you can not get ID. Do you have second chip for trying?
If you have extra chip, you can send one to MCUmall check it for you. |

Hi! I am "solving" this together with jope and yes, we do have extra chip that could be shipped to you. That would be great if you could also help if this issue is other ways unsolvable.

Try to add this config line in "devices.txt" file:
Name="AT49BV163DT",ID="1FC2",Class="29LV160T",Category="FLASH",MFG="Atmel",Adapter="TSOP48 8 BIT Mode",VCC="5V",Message="Set the adapter to 3V jumper position.";
This config will let programmer provide 5V VCC. So the VCC jumper on adapter need to be set on 3V position. |

Sorry for the delay, we had some logistics troubles here in Finland (Ziili lives in another city and I didn't have any chips. :-)
It works! Thank you. |
