The step should be: 1) Connected both the RS232 and USB cables from the computer to the 51/avr,and I inserted a89c4051 chip to ZIF, (upper most slot)and locked it by the ZIF handle. The indicating light was twinkling evry second. 2), Run the 51/AVR programmer by click on the .exe file which is in 51/avr disc. 3),Select correct COM port by clicking on Serial port setting icon on the menu tool bar right side. 4),Select the AT89C4051--4k chip type from device list menu. 5).Click the menu "File" and then open the program you want to download to chip. The file type should be either .bin or .hex. (In this stage you can open the demo file from drive A:) 6).Click on the menu "Devices" and select "AT89C4051" item. Then click on "Write Data" small icon the tool bar. The program should start to download into chip. 7), Once download completed, click on the verify icon button on the tool bar to verify it. Also, for those data file other than ".bin" and ".hex". Such as ".asm" code, you need to compile them to ".bin" or ".hex" file format by A51.exe. The chip will not recognize the ".asm" code.
