u mean the drivers for the usb programmer? download the new drivers and extract them first into a folder. go into ur device manager, find the GQ programmer and right click update driver, then point to the driver folder. |

Hi,
I am also after the firmware update 1.30 that will allow me to program a pic18f2455. As i can understand , a few people have been helped by contacting support@mcumall.com but i am still waiting for a response.
It would be nice if someone posted the firmware and installation procedures on the download page.
I am kinda sad right now, as the only chips i ever need to program are PIC , and i always encounter problems when i try to use my GQ-4x with them, and so i must resort to a simple homemade 2$ circuit when i need to program my PICs. |

I had no problems getting the update via the support email address. |

Glad to hear, hopefully i will be getting news from mcumall today. Isn't the procedure simple enough to offer it on the downloads page? |

I think you run the risk of bricking your programmer if the update is cancelled/stopped half way through.
If the download was on the support page, people would update to get the "latest and greatest" when there is no actual need, therefore increasing returns/repairs for ZLM to resolve when there was no need for the update.
So I can understand the update being provided on a "when needed" basis. |

Thanx Bad_Ad84, that kinda makes sense. Unfortunately, i still haven'T received the email , and my entire project resolves around me flashing this pic. I dont want to use my 2$ circuit because it requires me to use a parallel port connection, and the computers i have with parallel ports are pretty far from my work station, so i will wait a bit longer to see if i receive the email. I am willing to take all the risks of updating the programmer myself and assume all costs if i ever damage it and have to send it in.
Thanks for your replies Bad_Ad84 |

I still haven'T received the firmware. Why is it taking so long ? I replied to the support email asking for my serial number 40 minutes after i received it, and still haven't received the firmware.

Just wondering how long does it usually take to receive a reply back for the updated firmware? I already replied with the order and serial number and that has been 2 or 3 days ago. Today being the second or third day. |

Never mind, I finally received the update and it was easy to do and now I am able to flash the PIC18 family chips. Thanks. |
