I've had a GQ-3X programmer for several years and have had no issues with it. Today, I received the ADP-081 adapter (20-pin SOC to 20-pin DIP adapter) so that I could read and program SOIC serial flash chips. These chips are often used for storing BIOS, and range from 8-pin to 16-pin to 20-pin, etc.
Anyway, I can't get the software to properly read or identify the chip I'm using... Winbond 25X40 8-pin SOIC serial flash. I've positioned the flash chip properly in the adapter and placed the adapter properly into the GQ-3X programmer. All that gets read from the device is FF (with a total checksum of 0x07F80000). There is never any proper data read.
When I remove the flash chip and place it back into my embedded PC board, it works just fine. The BIOS POSTs and the computer runs perfectly.
Anybody know how to get this device to work properly with this programmer?
