Hi,

Like most times you open a box and get a new thing out - you want it to work. Bummer not this time - second item this week ;-(

I have a set of 10 brand new SST29LE010 150-4CNH 1Mbit/8x128k EEPROM. (h**p://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/228704/SST/SST29LE010-150-4C-NH.html)

GQ-4X, Device selected SST29LE010, Adapter PLCC32 to DIP32 (ordered with the programmer)

Blank check fails, ID fails.

H/W Re: GQ-4X Re-1.40
USB Driver Re.2.0
Software Re. 6.00
Checking new software on server...
<<SST29LE010>>
This software is updated already.
ID check failed.("DFDF")
Please check device type, chip's orientation and pin contact.
Some OEM chips may have compatible chip ID
Continue?
Yes
ID check skipped
Blank checking... Code
Elapsed time: 0.26 seconds.
Device blank check failed at address: 0x00554A, Read= 0x55.
Blank check failed

Any suggestions or ideas - are you recommending a different 3.3V 1MBit PLCC32 Flash?

There are three possibilities for this kind of error:
1. the programmer. To confirm this one, try to program another chip without adapter.
2. the chip problem. To confirm this one, try to program another type chip without adapter.
3. the adapter problem. This problem is very common on new adapter. Try to make sure your adapter has no contacting problem with you chip and programmer ZIF. Also make sure your chip and adapter orintation are correct.

The blank chip should used after erase command and before write command.

OK - got some replacements and DANG! Something is wrong.

It does not program the SST29LE010. Here is a possible kink:

Selecting SST29LE010.
Hitting the [i] button next to the selection:

It says (among other things)
Vcc: 5V
Vpp: 5V
WriteVcc: 5V
ReadVpp: Not set or invalid

But the Datasheet Point out:

• Single Voltage Read and Write Operations
– 4.5-5.5V for SST29EE010
– 3.0-3.6V for SST29LE010
– 2.7-3.6V for SST29VE010

So the LE is pin compatible with the EE but the voltage range is 3-3.6V.

I guess the chip is fried! Hope just one ;-)

So here is the question - how do I program this chip with the still
not so very valuable GQ-4X?

Matt

And here one more, editing the devices.txt

Name="SST29LE010",ID="BF08",Class="SST29EE010",Category="FLASH",MFG="SST",VPP="3.6V",VCC="3.6V",WVPP="3.6V",WVCC="3.6V",BVCC="3.6V",RVPP="3.6V",Adapter="TSOP32-DIP32";

Looks good to me, but then - hey I get:

Image Insert:

34.22 KB

Programmer: GQ-4X

Any suggestions on how to solve this one?

Thanks, Matt

The 3.6V here is the maximum voltage. It will work on 3.3V in most of cases.

This chip should be supported. We will find a testing chip to check it out.
