I'm using the GQ4X with a power supply and am having some problems with the SST 49LF004B and M27C801/PLCC. Using ADP-030 for the SST, 32Pin PLCC adapter for M27C801.

49LF004B-
1)Won't ID chip.
2)49LF004B shows being erased but when checked, it hasn't erased.
3)When programming buffer shows different than chip contents using new chips.
4)LED on ADP-030 not lit(should this be on?)

M27C801/PLCC/OneTimeProgrammable-
1)Won't ID chip.
2)New chip shows blank but when programming it halts at 1st location with different values than buffer.
3)Seems to throw random bits in different addresses causing programming to stop.

I've tried programming a 27C512 and had success with that.

I've read many of the posts on here and concluded I might be pushing down to hard on the ZIF for the eprom to contact correctly, I'll check that later. I've done roughly 6 49LFs with no problem before this issue came up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, alpha59web

I think the issue with the 49LF004Bs has been resolved. Straightened pins, checked for positive contact, now chip is IDing correctly and erasing and programming correctly.

I am still having some issue with the M27C801. Chip IDs correctly. When I read chip to fill buffer, I then go back and verify and buffer is always different than contents on chip. Kinda stumped there...

Looks like pin contacting not good to me.

I concur. If that's not in the sticky at the beginning of the forum it should be. It seems like most of the issues I read yesterday could be traced back to bad pin contact. The more I play with the pins getting them straightened and lined up the better my results are getting.

Thanks for the response ZLM. I think I can consider this thread solved.
