I'm trying to JTAG a generic chip and dont have a device to select. I'm not using the JTAG adapter since I can keep the wires short and I know the vcc is +5V. I tried selecting a chip that has JTAG, like a Xilinx but if I try to read or any selection I get a popup window saying "data file not loaded into buffer".
What device do I need to select to get a read on this chip just using the GQ-4X? |

| The JTAG only write,erase,blanck chip, user ID, vrify functions supported. Not read. It works like a JAM player. |

i was intending to buy this adapter for gq4x as you state it can not read the chip i am bit confused as i wanted to read mcu's of radio for code purpose.

| HELLO, i need to read a xilinx chip, XC9572XL and XC95144XL, to write what i read in a new chip, i think GQ-4X do this,that i buy this programmer; what can i do? thank you. |

The GQ-4X able to read and write XC9572XL?
i have a chip needed to read and program also. |

| Yes. The GQ-4X is able to write XC9572XL. But you are unable to read the code from chip and save the data. It it only a JAM player. The file type is .stapl for Xilinx. |
